Clamped-end effect on static detection signals of DNA-microcantilever

Abstract Boundary constraint induced inhomogeneous effects are important for mechanical responses of nano/micro-devices. For microcantilever sensors, the clamped-end effect static deformation, so called effect, has great influence on detection signals. This paper is devoted to developing an alternative model characterize signals DNA-microcantilever. Different from previous concentrated load models, DNA adsorption taken as equivalent uniformly distributed tangential substrate upper surface, which exactly satisfies zero force boundary condition at free-end. Thereout, a variable coefficient differential governing equation describing non-uniform deformation DNA-microcantilever by established using principle minimum potential energy. By reducing order equation, analytical solutions curvature distribution and bending deflection obtained. comparing with approximate surface stress discussed, importance neutral axis shift also illustrated asymmetric laminated microcantilever.
